Thread-forming in sheetmetal


For cost-saving purposes there is a need for threads in sheetmetal parts without using press-fit nuts, welded nut or similar methods.

Please find below some examples which meet these requirements.

1.) Thread extrusion:
A standard method to use threaded screws in sheet parts.

2.)
Thread forming:
A fast and quick way to attach with a sheet screw.
The sheet puts tension on the screw threads when tightened creating a secure locking feature.

Manufacturing:
a.) Punching, cutting, and forming in one operation.

3.)
Screw channel:
In order to use a T-punch, it is possible to make a screw channel where a sheet metal screw can be threaded.

Manufactoring:
a.) Cutting and forming in both direction in one operation.
